AIIMS Bhopal observes Pediatric Hematology Nurses' Day

In observance of September's global Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Departments of Pediatric Surgery, Radiotherapy, and Medical Hematology & Oncology, has been organizing a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about childhood cancer.

As part of these efforts, AIIMS Bhopal celebrated Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses' Day on Tuesday, 10 September 2024. The event highlighted the crucial role of nurses in the care of children suffering from cancer and blood disorders. Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the nursing staff, stating, "Nurses play a pivotal role in the care of children affected by cancer and blood disorders. They not only provide essential medical care but also offer emotional and psychological support to the families during their most difficult times. It is because of their dedication and selfless service that the lives of our young patients improve. AIIMS Bhopal remains committed to providing continuous support and fostering an environment of excellence for our nurses and healthcare professionals."

The purpose of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses' Day is to recognize and honor the dedication and service of nurses who work tirelessly to care for children, adolescents, and young adults battling cancer and blood disorders. On this occasion, Prof. Shikha Malik, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, congratulated all the nursing staff for their hard work and praised their invaluable contributions. "Our nursing staff's dedication and commitment are key factors in the treatment and recovery of children fighting cancer and blood disorders. Their role is irreplaceable," she said.

Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist, Dr. Narendra Kumar Chaudhary, emphasized the importance of continuous education and skill development for the nursing staff. He encouraged them to stay updated with new techniques and technologies to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

"Learning and upgrading one's skills is essential to providing the best care possible to our patients. Excellence in patient care is an ongoing process," Dr. Chaudhary noted. The event saw active participation from all faculty members of the Pediatrics Department, resident doctors, nursing staff, and supportive staff, underscoring the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the fight against childhood cancer and blood disorders. The collective efforts of the entire healthcare team at AIIMS Bhopal aim to ensure that children battling these diseases receive the best care and support.
