Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Monday alleged that the AAP has trapped itself in the web of its own indefinite Satyagraha, and the meeting of ministers at the air-conditioned site of State Water Minister Atishi's hunger strike clearly indicates that the party is looking for excuses to end it amid water shortage in the national capital.
Sachdeva attacked the Delhi Minister and senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj for 'telling a new story'. "On Monday, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj told a new story that 1050 MGD of water is only for 10 million people, while the population of Delhi is 30 million. The people of Delhi want to ask Saurabh Bharadwaj on what basis his government had been saying all this time that there is only a problem of 100 MGD in Delhi and only 2.8 million people are affected," the Delhi BJP chief claimed.
He further said that water in Delhi comes not directly from the Yamuna River but through canals, which supply regular water to the city and claimed that the river is filled with silt. "As far as the issue of water not stopping at the Yamuna in Wazirabad is concerned, the root cause is that the Yamuna is filled with silt. Even 95 per cent of the pond at the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant is filled with silt, which prevents water from staying and causes it to flow away," Sachdeva stated.
