A student was killed in a bloody clash between two groups of students in BIT Mesra, an educational institution located at Mesra OP. The deceased student was identified as Raja Paswan. Ranchi Police has taken action in this case and arrested five people.

Those who have been arrested include Abhishek Kumar, Mausam Kumar Singh, Nipun, Sahil and Irfan Ansari.

Raja Paswan, a student of Polytechnic Department, died in a clash between two groups of students on November 14 in BIT Mesra. There was a dispute over taking a selfie with a girl student after ragging during the freshers party in the college campus. During this, senior students brutally beat up Raja.

The college staff intervened and separated the students and took Raja to Hostel No. 2. After this, his family was informed. The family took Raja home and the next day admitted him to Sadar Hospital in critical condition. When his condition worsened, he was referred to RIMS, where he died on the evening of 15 November.

After this, a case was registered in BIT police station on the complaint of Raja's father Chandan Paswan. A special team was formed under the leadership of DSP Sanjeev Kumar Besra and raids were conducted. This team arrested 5 accused, while some accused are still absconding. Police have recovered 2 belts used in the beating, shirt and jacket of the deceased from the spot. Police station in-charge Sanjeep Kumar said that all the arrested accused have confessed to the crime and the absconding accused will be caught soon.

BIT police station is also at a short distance from the BIT campus, but even after the assault, no information was given to the police. Whereas the incident of assault took place on the night of 14 November itself. The police was informed about the case after the death of the student.
