To encourage women to vote, there will be a total of 3,320 all-women pink polling stations called 'Sangwari Stations' for the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, an official communique said on Tuesday.
Similarly, 90 disabled and 387 youth polling stations have been created, and 450 model polling stations are being set up as well. Women voters outnumber the male electorate in the state. There are 1,03,32,115 women voters, 1,01,80,405 men voters while 732 belong to the third gender.
Women officials have also decided to take part in election work in remote and Maoist-affected areas like Bastar, and this is an inspiration, the communique said.
Chhattisgarh will see elections in three phases with 24,229 polling stations.
