A 27-year-old porter was killed while his friend escaped the fatal accident with severe injuries after their bike was hit and dragged for over 20 meters near Lily Talkies in the wee hours on Saturday.

Two youths on a bike were hit by a car in Jehangirabad police station area. After the collision, the car dragged the young man for 20 meters. After this, the driver fled the spot with the car. One youth died on the spot in the accident, while the other escaped with injuries.

The incident took place near Lily Talkies at 4 am on Sunday. The injured youth were admitted to Hamidia Hospital in critical condition where one of them was declared dead.

Police said that CCTV footage of the area will be examined, so that the driver who hit the youths on bike can be identified.

On Sunday afternoon, Farid's body was handed over to the family after the postmortem.The deceased was identified as Farid Qureshi (27) was a resident of Jinsi area and used to work as a porter. He went out to have tea with his friends Shamim and Sohail. The three friends were returning from Qazi Camp after having tea at around 4 am in the morning. Farid stopped the car in front of Lily Talkies and he went to the roadside with Sohail to use the toilet.

Meanwhile, a speeding car hit both of them. Both friends got stuck in the bumper of the car. After this, the car dragged Farid for 20 meters. He died on the spot. After the accident, the accused car driver fled.

Farid got married one and a half years ago and has a one month old daughter from the marriage.
