Total 18 permanent shops which were obstructing the second phase of Bhopal Metro, were demolished after two months of the deadline of the removal of the structures, on Tuesday.
However, the shopkeepers removed their goods before the action to avoid loss.
The second phase of the metro is 8.77 Km from Subhash Nagar Depot to Karond. This work will also be done in two parts. A total of Rs 1540 crore will be spent on both. Soil testing, design and other works have been done.
Now the focus is on removing encroachment. So that, civil works can start soon.
City Circle SDM Deepak Pandey said, action was taken in the presence of police. Those shopkeepers who said that they would remove their goods by evening were given relief. There are a total of 108 saw machines in Azad Nagar, which could not be shifted. The place where these are to be shifted does not have facilities like water, electricity and road.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department has called tenders for them. In such a situation, the machines are not able to come for the underground line.
There are 108 saw machines on the metro route from Barkhedi Phatak to Bharat Talkies. In about 48 years, discussions have been held more than 50 times on the shifting of these machines and 8 locations have also been seen.
After a long struggle, finally 18 acres of land was allotted in Chhota Ratibad. Where road, electricity and water facilities will be provided with Rs 5.5 crore, but till now only the tender process has been done.
