The 120th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata was celebrated today at Jharia Division here on Monday. Homage was paid to JRD Tata at GM Office by Chief Guest Narendra Kumar Gupta, Chief Jamadoba Group, Jharia Division Tata Steel and Rajesh Chintak, Chief HRBP-RM Tata Steel in presence of Santosh Mahato, Regional Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, , Pankaj Kumar Das, Officers, Union representatives and employees of the Division.
On the occasion, several activities were organized by Tata Steel Foundation. The day began with a Cross-Country Race for under-16 years. The cross-country race was flagged-off jointly by Narendra Kumar Gupta and Santosh Mahato at GM’s office. 222 children (Girls -70 & Boys -152) participated in the event. Narendra Kumar Gupta, Santosh Mahato and other dignitaries distributed prizes to the top thirteen winners in both the boy’s and girl’s categories.
A Special Aids and Appliances distribution program was also organized for the Leprosy patients at SPARSH Centre, Jamadoba. More than 35 Leprosy patients were present during the programme.
A friendly cricket match was organized between Management Trainee Technical and Community at Digwadih Ground on this occasion . A Contract-workers Premier League (CPL) Football and Inter Colliery Football tournament was also organized by the Human Resources Department in collaboration with the Sports Department. In the football tournament league matches Bhelatand Colliery team entered the finals by defeating Sijua Surface team.
