Election Commission of India has distributed Voter Information Slips with QR code to all voters in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The voter information slip with QR code, will provide the voters with important information like name of polling station, address, number, voter number in the electoral roll, helpline number of the state and district.
If a voter does not have a voter information slip and his name is in the voter list, then apart from the voter ID card with photo, he/she can cast vote by showing any of these 12 alternative photo documents including Aadhaar card, PAN card, Unique ID card for Persons with disabilities, driving license, MNREGA job card, Pension Document (with photograph), Passport, Passbook (issued by Bank/Post Office with photograph), Service Identity Card with photograph (issued by Central/State Government/PSU/Public Limited Companies), official identity card issued to MPs, MLAs members, smart card issued by RGI under NPR and health insurance smart card (issued under the scheme of Labour Ministry).
Voter guide and voter slips are being distributed to all voters before voting. The Voter Slip with Photo can be used for information/guidance, but not as a proof of identity. If it is not possible to identify the voter due to mismatch in the photograph etc. of the voter in the Photo EPIC, then the voter will have to show any of the 12 optional photo documents to the polling officer.
