On June 21, 2024, residents of Bokaro actively participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations. The district-level event was held at the Police Line Ground in Sector 12, Bokaro Steel City, organized by the District AYUSH Committee and District Ganga Committee.
Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, Superintendent of Police Pujya Prakash, Deputy Development Commissioner Sandeep Kumar, DPLR Menka, Additional Collector M. Mumtaz Ansari, along with other district officials, members of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namami Gange District Ganga Committee members, Civil Defence members, representatives from various sports associations, and students from Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School, Chas, participated in the yoga practice session.
DC Vijaya Jadhav emphasized the ancient significance of yoga, highlighting its increasing importance in today's stressful life. She noted that yoga promotes physical and mental development and urged district residents to incorporate yoga into their daily lifestyle for better health.
SP Pujya Prakash also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the necessity of yoga for maintaining good health. He shared his personal routine of regular yoga practice and encouraged everyone to include yoga in their daily regimen for physical fitness.
DDC Sandeep Kumar spoke about the numerous benefits of yoga and its vital role in mental health. He encouraged everyone to practice yoga and inspire others to do the same.
The district-level event saw a large turnout of administrative officials, school students, police personnel, senior citizens, and local residents. From 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, participants practiced various yoga asanas under the guidance of instructor Ram Pravesh Kumar and his team.
Prominent officials including Civil Surgeon Dr. Dinesh Kumar, City DSP Alok Ranjan, District Public Relations Officer Saket Kumar Pandey, District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Manoj Mani, District Education Officer Jagarnath Lohra, District Sports Officer Hemlata Bun, and others participated in the yoga session.
