Announcing that 100 additional Vyayamshalas will be established in the state over the next 60 days to facilitate regular yoga practice, the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said that Vyayamshalas have been opened by identifying 1121 places in the state and regular yoga sessions already taking place in 714 of these facilities. “The Haryana government aims to bring yoga to every household in the state to promote health and well-being. Yoga is not just an important aspect of life but also a way of life,” he added.

Addressing yoga practitioners at a state-level event organized to celebrate the 10th International Yoga Day in Hisar, the Chief Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had passed a resolution in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, granting international recognition to yoga. This resolution was supported by 177 countries. “Today, 217 countries worldwide celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day. On this occasion, practitioners participated in yoga sessions in parks, auditoriums, homes, localities, and panchayats,” he added.

Saini further said that to connect people with yoga and improve their health, the government has appointed 877 Ayush Yoga Sahayaks who will provide daily yoga instruction. After this, the Yoga Sahayaks will give information about the importance of yoga to improve the health of the patients and their families visiting Ayush dispensaries.

He highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when there were no medicines or vaccines available, many people turned to yoga to combat the disease and experienced significant relief. Today, yoga is celebrated as a festival. In modern times, everyone's life has become hectic, leading to mental stress. Yoga not only alleviates stress but also energizes the body. A healthy body accelerates personal and societal development. He urged everyone to pledge to move forward through yoga.

The Chief Minister appealed to the public to make yoga a part of their daily routine to safeguard their health. "Do yoga, stay healthy," he emphasized. He said that the Haryana government has decided to incorporate yoga into the school curriculum. Every day, students are made to practice yoga for five minutes before the morning assembly. He highlighted that yoga is an ancient Indian practice, popularized globally by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev. PM Modi's vision further contributed to spreading yoga worldwide. The Chief Minister congratulated the people of Haryana on International Yoga Day and added that this year's theme is "Yoga for Self and Yoga for Society."

During the event, Saini participated in a yoga session alongside the attendees and listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address from Srinagar, where he conveyed a message to the nation on International Yoga Day. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the booklet "Yoga Protocol” of Haryana Yoga Aayog. In addition, the Chief Minister inaugurated two Vyayamshalas in Hisar and laid the foundation stone for two more. He announced a reward of Rs two lakh for the school students who performed yoga during the event and honored several social institutions associated with yoga. This programme was conducted by the Haryana Yoga Aayog and the AYUSH Department.
