‘Gaatha’ annual function cum prize distribution at SCS

Surendranath Centenary School celebrated its Annual Function cum Prize Distribution, themed ‘Gaatha’, with great fervor and enthusiasm, marking 36 glorious years of academic excellence. The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Pathak, Director General, Sarala Birla University, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Neelima Pathak, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Linguistics, as Guest of Honour.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the Annual Report which was read by the Principal Madam Samita Sinha, highlighting the school's achievements and progress for the session 2023-24.

The thematic show featured a mesmerizing welcome dance and song, followed by a vibrant dance performance "Mile Sur Mera Tumhara" by students of KG to II. The main attraction of the evening was the colourful dance drama "Ahilyabai - Itihaas Ke Panno Se", which brought to life the inspiring story of the brave and visionary queen Ahilyabai Holkar, showcasing the talent and creativity of students from Class III to XII. The "Music Fiesta" and "Zorba", a Greek dance form, were notable highlights. The instrumental music performance "Yaadein" was a treat for the audience.

The prize distribution ceremony recognized students for their academic excellence, co-curricular achievements, and special talents. Notable awardees of session 2023-24 included Ananya Rai, the Science Topper for the "Ranadeb Chaudhuri Award", Samridhi Kumari, the Commerce Topper for the "Mira Chaudhuri Award", and Suprita Kumari of class X for the "Amala Goswami Award".

The event also witnessed the release of the school magazine "Expressions". Leopard House bagged the Champion House trophy for their outstanding performance throughout the year.

Distinguished guests, including Abhay Kumar Singh, Principal, Army Public School, and Paromita Saha, Principal, Loyola Convent School, also graced the occasion.

In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of taking immediate steps to control climate change and applauded the teachers, "the stakeholders", for their immense contribution to the school's growth.

The event concluded, leaving behind memories of a spectacular evening that celebrated the school's commitment to excellence.
