Three crew members of Indian Coast Guard are missing after their helicopter on a rescue mission had to make a forced landing at sea off Porbandar on Monday, Coast Guard said here on Tuesday. Rescue mission was on to locate them.
Giving details, officials said the incident occurred on Monday night after the Coast Guard launched an operation around 11 pm to evacuate an injured crew member on board a tanker which was sailing close to Porbandar.
While one of the four crew members on board the ICG’s advanced light helicopter (ALH) was rescued, a search operation was on for three others, it said. The force has deployed four ships and two aircraft to search and rescue the missing crew members.
Coast Guard said aircraft wreckage was located. The incident happened whilst the helicopter was approaching the vessel for the evacuation, it added.
