A day after NDA scored victory in Lok Sabha polls, more than 50world leaders have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his third-term win. Presidents of Sri Lanka, Maldives, Iran, Seychelles and Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Mauritius have sent congratulatory greetings.

Among G20 countries, Prime Ministers of Italy, Japan and the President of South Korea have congratulated the Prime Minister.   Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also congratulated Modi.  China also lauded the victory.

French President Emmanuel Macron said, "India has concluded the biggest election in the world! Congratulations Narendra Modi, my dear friend. Together we will continue to further strengthen the strategic partnership that unites India and France."

From Africa, Presidents of Nigeria, Kenya, Comoros have extended congratulatory messages.

From the Caribbean, leaders of Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana have congratulated Modi. From South East Asia, Prime Ministers of Singapore and Malaysia have congratulated Modi.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated his counterpart Modi on his party's victory in India's general election, expressing hopes that Indo-Israel ties surge to "new heights," PTI reported from Jerusalem.

Modi was the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992. He visited Israel in July 2017 in a much-publicised standalone visit, seen by many as de-hyphenating India's ties in the region till then seen in the context of the Israel-Palestinian conflict and New Delhi's efforts towards a balancing act.  He later also visited the West Bank, skipping Israel, and focusing on India's ties with Palestine.

Netanyahu's friendship with Modi grabbed a lot of headlines in Israel with the "chemistry" between the two being talked about with a viral picture of the two taking a stroll barefoot at an Israeli beach.

 China on Wednesday congratulated Modi. "We noted the results of India's general election and extended congratulations on the victory of BJP led by Modi and NDA," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in Beijing according to PTI.

 A sound and stable India relationship is conducive to the interests of both the countries and conducive to the peace and development in the region and beyond, she told a media briefing here answering questions on the outcome of India's general elections.

China stands ready to work with India to act in the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples bearing in mind the overall interests of our ties and look to the future and advance the bilateral ties on a steady track, Mao said.

Relations between the two countries hit a low except for trade ever since the eastern Ladakh border standoff erupted on May 5, 2020, following a violent clash in the Pangong Tso (lake) area. The two sides have so far held 21 rounds of Corps Commander-level talks to resolve the standoff.

 In a social media post, Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong described the victory of the NDA alliance as "historic" and said he was looking forward to working with his Indian counterpart to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations next year.

"Congratulations @narendramodi on the historic victory by the NDA for the third consecutive term. Look forward to working with you to deepen the Singapore-India partnership and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year," Wong said on X.

 Among G20 countries, prime ministers of Italy and Japan and president of South Korea have congratulated Modi on the electoral victory.

"Congratulations to @narendramodi on the new electoral victory and my warmest wishes for good work. We will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us," Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a social media post.

In his message, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu said he was looking forward to working with Modi. "Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi, and the BJP and BJP-led NDA, on the success in the 2024 Indian General Election, for the third consecutive term," Muizzu posted on social media.

 "I look forward to working together to advance our shared interests in pursuit of shared prosperity and stability for our two countries," he said.

In his message, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe said he was looking at further strengthening bilateral ties. "I extend my warmest felicitations to the @BJP4India led NDA on its victory, demonstrating the confidence of the Indian people in the progress and prosperity under the leadership of PM @narendramodi," he said. "As the closest neighbour Sri Lanka looks forward to further strengthening the partnership with India," he said.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay too hoped for deeper India-Bhutan ties during Modi's third term. "Congratulations to my friend PM @narendramodi  and NDA for the historic 3rd consecutive win in the world's biggest elections. As he continues to lead Bharat to great heights, I look forward to working closely with him to further strengthen the relations between our 2 countries," he said in his social media post.
