Work for national development: PM to NDA allies

All the 13 Chief Ministers and 16 Deputy CMs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies such as Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United), Shiv Sena viz chief ministers of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Meghalaya vowed to work together for national development during the meeting of the National Democratic Alliance Chief Ministers’ Council in Chandigarh, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting was called to discuss national development issues. The meeting schedule holds significance as it has come ahead of the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly polls, and soon after the historic victory in Haryana and formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir.

Twenty CMs of the NDA, and their deputies engaged in the half-day conclave, the first of its kind after many years. “Chaired a meeting of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers. We had extensive discussions on aspects of good governance and ways to improve people’s lives. Our alliance is committed to furthering national progress and empowering the poor and downtrodden,” Modi said on his social media handle soon after the meeting.

The proceedings of conclave commenced immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of newly-elected Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President J P Nadda, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were present in the meeting.

According to sources, the deliberations in this meeting covered a structured agenda covering all aspects of national development. “It also discussed subjects like observance of Sanvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav and the Year of 50th anniversary of the attempt to murder democracy,” sources said.

Sources added that the PM also emphasised that people should find solutions to their problems from governance, and the administration’s basic concept depends on how we address the grievances of the people.  “This is why there should be an attempt to focus on P2G2 - pro-people, proactive, good governance. Today, 17 CMs and 18 Deputy CMs of the NDA attended the meeting,” BJP chief JP Nadda said at a press conference on NDA Chief Ministers’ council meeting.

“Six proposals were discussed upon in today’s meeting and all six proposals were unanimously passed...” Nadda added.
