Modi rips into INDIA Bloc's Communal plank

Thursday, 23 May 2024 | Saumya Shukla | New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday tore into the INDIA Bloc accusing it of being extremely "communal, extremely casteist and extremely nepotistic" as he alleged that the Congress is to be blamed for the anti-Sikh riots.

Addressing a rally in West Delhi's Dwarka sector 14, the Prime Minister said the BJP's development model is committed to 'nation first' but for the Congress and the INDIA grouping, the only agenda is 'family first'.

Modi denounced the communal and casteist agendas of the INDIA Bloc, accusing them of prioritising vote-bank politics over the welfare of the nation. He criticised their divisive tactics and highlighted instances of communal violence and corruption under their rule.

"The country also understands that if by mistake any vote is cast in favour of the INDIA alliance, that vote is not going to be of any use to the country. Every vote given to BJP will strengthen the resolve of 'Viksit Bharat'. That is why this huge sea of people is also saying in one voice 'Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar'," he said.

He said, "The BJP's development model says, Nation First. On the other hand, Congress and the INDI alliance's only agenda is family first. This INDI alliance is a symbol of every evil that exists in the country today. They are highly communal, casteist, and family-oriented. Our Delhi has been a direct witness to their communalism."

Attacking the Congress and the INDIA Bloc, he referred to 1984 riots when Sikhs were burnt alive. "It was in this very Delhi that my Sikh brothers and sisters were burned alive with burning tires around their necks. Whose crime was this? Congress. Today, every party standing under the Congress umbrella is guilty of the Sikh riots. It is Modi who is delivering justice to the victims of the Sikh riots. As soon as Modi came to power, an SIT was formed. Hundreds of cases were reopened. The Congress leaders who were roaming freely have been punished by us," he said.

During his speech, Modi emphasised the stark differences between the governance models of the BJP and the Congress-led INDIA Bloc. He underscored the BJP's commitment to fast-paced development and efficient governance, contrasting it with the slow progress and systemic injustice perpetuated by the Congress and its allies.

Speaking about the Congress and INDIA Bloc's misrule and caste-based politics, Modi said, "Who doesn't know about the prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia, a Central University in Delhi? For 60 years, it remained a regular educational institution, even there, Dalits, backward classes, and tribals used to get reservations. But in 2011, the Congress Government played a trick. Suddenly Jamia was declared a minority institution. This imposed a 50 per cent reservation for Muslims in Jamia. Earlier, all SC/ST/OBCs used to get reservations in admissions. Now even that has been restricted based on religion."

"Earlier, the authority of the Minority Educational Institution Commission was limited to colleges. But Congress suddenly included universities as well. Now you tell me. It has been almost a decade and a half, hundreds of admissions have happened, hundreds of recruitments have taken place, but all SC/ST/OBCs are not getting their rights. This is what they want to implement across the country," he said.

Discarding Congress and INDIA Bloc's appeasement and vote bank politics, Modi said, "Just today, the Calcutta High Court has given a big slap to this INDI alliance. The court has canceled all OBC certificates issued since 2010. Why? Because they issued unwarranted OBC certificates to Muslims. They have crossed every limit in their obsession with appeasement."

Highlighting deep-rooted corruption in Congress and the INDIA Bloc, the Prime Minister said, "Many times, even though speaking thousands of lies, the truth eventually comes out of Shehzada's mouth. Today, the Shehzada of Congress has accepted a big truth. The Shehzada has admitted that the system established during his grandmother's, father's, and mother's time, was vehemently opposed to Dalits, backward classes, and tribals. This very system of Congress has destroyed many generations of SC-ST-OBC. Today, Shehzada himself has acknowledged this fact."

Modi said the Congress "tarnished" the image of the 2010 Commonwealth Games by "looting" Delhi.  Recalling the CWG scam, Modi attacked the Congress and INDIA Bloc for looting the people. "In 10 years, 36 lakh crores have been given to the beneficiaries. If Congress was here then 31 lakh crores would have been eaten by the middle men. Who can forget CWG? Congress had the opportunity to showcase India's capabilities in front of the world but Congress looted the people of Delhi. You have seen that in this very Delhi G20 was organised. In the whole world, India was praised. Tell me how it happen? This happened because of the development model of the BJP."

In an apparent attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said in Delhi, a game of 'kattar bhrastachari' is being played out. "These people have left no stone unturned to loot the people of Delhi and even courts are stunned by this. The people who came to change politics did the biggest betrayal," he said, adding that all INDIA Bloc members are "extremely corrupt".

Modi warned that after returning for a third term, he will do an X-ray of corrupt people's wealth. Modi said, "I want to ask the leaders of Congress who say if privatisation happens reservation will go. Earlier, the prestigious university of Jamia used to give reservations to SC, ST and OBC. But in 2011 the Congress Government gave minority status to it. And from then there was 50 per cent reservation to Muslims."

Further, he said, "I want to tell my people of ST,  SC  and OBC community, 'ye aapki ankho me dhul jhok rahe hai'. Congress has already given your reservation to the Muslims. They have given certificates of OBC to Muslims for their own vote bank. They are giving Government lands to the Waqf board continuously. To please their vote bank they criticise the CAA."

In his second rally in Delhi, three days before the city votes on Saturday, Modi claimed that the Congress will repeat the same mistakes done before the country was divided into two.

"They say I am doing Hindu Muslim. I just worry about the country. Congress before the partition did these same things which split our country. These people do Muslim vote bank all day. They have stabbed the constitution of our country," Modi asserted

He said the Congress and INDIA Bloc have one aim- family first. "We have nation first, they have family first. Choose which one do you want this time? They have three things in their blood- they are communal, jativadi, and ghor parivaravadi."

He said the sins of Lutyen gang, Khan market gang have been hidden by the INDIA Bloc while stating that it's time that such people are ousted out.

"These INDIA alliance people are getting caught with loads of money everywhere. Be it in Jharkhand or West Bengal. These people have left no opportunity to loot the people of Delhi. They are betraying you," he said while adding that every single penny will be taken back from such corrupt leaders. "Kisine loota h usse lauta na hi padega," he said.

Also, he said there is a clear difference between both the alliances. "There is a clear difference between Congress and INDIA alliance and us. They don't have time to think of the future. They don't have the time to speed up their pace of development. They have done injustice with all of you. The BJP Government is the Government of the country. Let me tell you one after the other the differences. They made 70 airports in 60 years and we made 70 new airports in 10 years. We made more than 315 colleges in our tenure. From seven AIIMS to more than 22 AIIMS. Modi has given more than 18 crore gas connections," said Modi, who is vying for the third term.
