Soon, travelers will be able to share their experiences at popular tourist hotspots and destinations, such as monuments, by scanning strategically placed QR codes at airports and railway stations nationwide.
Aiming to actively engage the travelers in the growth of India's tourism sector, the Union Tourism Ministry is in the process of introducing such an innovative feedback mechanism.
“Feedback and ratings of experiences by travelers will be collected by enabling them to scan a QR code placed at relevant points at airports and railway stations, spending around 30 seconds to rate their tourist experience and provide any feedback,” explained an official from the Ministry.
He added that this feedback will be real-time and dynamic in nature, allowing the Ministry to address issues proactively in collaboration with various stakeholders. This will also prove to be a rich source of data and insights for tourism development.
“By installing the QR codes provided by the Union Ministries of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Railways, they are collaborating to set up these mechanisms at airports and railway stations across the country, so that over time, they become a reliable source of insight and information for tourism policy and strategy.”
Operators in the tourism industry have supported this innovative approach. Rajnish Kaistha, Senior Vice President at the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), said that it will not only enhance the visitor experience but also enable businesses and authorities to make data-driven improvements. “By actively involving tourists in the development process, the initiative is expected to foster greater collaboration between stakeholders, leading to a more responsive and dynamic tourism environment,” he said.
Ritu Jain, Director of Coterie Tours Private Ltd, concurred, saying that with real-time feedback, the government can address concerns of the stakeholders swiftly, ensuring that every traveler’s voice is heard. “This proactive strategy promises to enrich the tourism landscape in India, making it more appealing and accessible for both domestic and international visitors.”
