Rane wants Shinde Sena ticket for elder son

Monday, 21 October 2024 | T N RAGHUNATHA | Mumbai

Former chief minister and senior BJP leader Narayan Rane believes in having both sides of his bread buttered. Or how else can one explain the fact that his younger son Nitesh Rane has been re-nominated by the BJP to contest the Kankavli seat, while he is lobbying to get an Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena ticket for his elder son Nilesh?

A strongman from the coastal Konkan region, Narayan Rane is currently the BJP MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency.

A two-time MLA from Kankavli, Nitesh was elected to the State Assembly on a Congress ticket in 2014, while he won the 2019 State Assembly polls on a BJP ticket in the 2019.

Nilesh is a former MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg. He was elected to Lok Sabha when he was with the Congress.

In his bid to ensure nomination from the Shinde Shiv Sena, Narayan Rane has been in touch with both Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
