The Maharashtra government is in the advanced stage of taking over the sprawling 45 acre-ND Art World studio complex at Karjat in Raigad district owned by late debt-trapped Art director, Nitin Chandrakant Desai, develop it and run it on the lines of the Film city in Mumbai.
Making a disclosure to this effect on a day when a solemn memorial was held to mark the first death anniversary of Nitin Desai, the late Art director’s uncle Shrikant Desai said: “The Maharashtra Government is working expeditiously to take over the entire studio spread over 45 acres, develop and run it on the lines of the Film City at Goregaon in Mumbai”.
“During the past one year, we have had at least three meetings with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The state government is likely to finalise the take-over of the studio this month. ,” Shrikant Desai said.
After the death of Nitin Desai, Shrikant Desai has been managing the ND Art World studio. “In the last one year, we have had several shootings in the studio. During 2023-24, the studio earned around Rs 9 crore. We have nearly 90 staffers at the studio,” Shrikant Desai said.
