REC signs MoU with JNPA

New Delhi: REC Limited, Maharatna PSU under Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, signed an MoU with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) for financing up to Rs 45,000 crore for various upcoming projects of JNPA, which includes development of Vadhavan Port. Rahul Dwivedi, IAS, Executive Director, REC signed the MoU with Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Chairman, JNPA. MoU was signed in the presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport and Ports), Government of Maharashtra and other senior officials from REC and JNPA were also present. This MoU is to establish a framework for cooperation between JNPA and REC whereby JNPA implements projects in the infrastructure sector of its expertise and REC shall provide the required funds.

 

NFR advances towards Zero Scrap Mission

Maligaon: In line with the "Zero Scrap Mission" of Indian Railways, North Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken significant steps to make all the establishments and units under its jurisdiction free from scrap materials. Under this mission, continuous monitoring is ensured to keep the stations, depots, sheds, workshops and sections scrap free. As a part of the 'Zero Scrap Mission', NFR has sold 23628 MT scrap rails/p-way (permanent way) materials and 19192 MT of miscellaneous scrap items generating revenues worth Rs 202.84 crores during the last fiscal year. During the same period condemned rolling stock i.e. 26 diesel locomotives, 247 coaches and 284 wagons were also sold.

 

GNDU welcomes its Paris Olympics shooters Amirtsar: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) welcomed its shooters, Ashvarya Partap Singh Tomar and Sifat Kaur Samra who represented the India at Paris Olympics 2024. Both students from Department of Physical Education have made the university proud at the international level. Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Prof Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof KS Kahlon, Registrar, Prof PMS Bedi, Dean Student's Welfare, Dr Amandeep Singh, Head, Physical Education Deparment, Dr Kanwarmandeep Singh, Incharge Sports, Dr Baljinder Singh Bal, Associate Professor and Rajwinder Kaur, Shooting Coach was also present on the occasion. They extended their heartfelt congratulations to both Olympians for their representation of GNDU on the international stage.

 

GNDU's Literary Magazine issue released

Amirtsar: The School of Punjabi Studies of Guru Nanak Dev University hosted a special event for the releasing of the September-December 2024 issue of the Literary Magazine 'Akhar'. Dr Manjinder Singh, Head of the School, highlighted that under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief Vishal, Akhar is venturing into new avenues and redefining its presence in popular Punjabi literary magazines by curating enriching content centered on creativity and thoughtful discourse. Dr Manmohan Singh (IPS) commended Editor-in-Chief Vishal for steering 'Akhar' in a direction that honours its esteemed legacy and applauded the hard work reflected in this issue. Dr Baljit Kaur Riar said that the Akhar team's efforts fulfilled poet Praminderjit's vision for 'Akhar.'GNDU organised an Orientation Session on Technical Textiles

 

Orientation session on Technical Textiles ends

Amirtsar: The Orientation Session on Technical Textiles under the SIDBI Cluster Intervention Programme for the Technical Textile Cluster, Amritsar, successfully concluded at Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan Auditorium, GNDU, Amritsar. The event saw enthusiastic participation from industry stakeholders, including textile MSMEs, researchers, and Government representatives. The session opened with welcome by KPMG team, followed by series of insightful talks on the current state of the Textile &Technical Textile Sector in Punjab and the role of SIDBI in supporting MSMEs through targeted interventions. Chief Guest, Satyaki Rastogi, CGM, SIDBI, emphasised on the importance of cluster-based strategies for fostering innovation and growth among textile MSMEs.
