In another glaring example of the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital city, a youth was hacked to death in broad daylight by a group of miscreants at Unit-1 under the Capital police station on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sushant Nayak, a resident of Unit-1 and an employee of the Horticulture Department.
.
According to family sources, five to six persons chased Sushant and hacked him to death near the SBI ATM in Unit-1 in the morning. After committing the crime, the accused persons fled from the spot.
Sushant's family members alleged that Sushant was killed over past enmity.
“One Sujit attempted to rape our minor daughter this month and we had lodged a complaint against him at the Capital police station for the same. He had been threatening our family members since then. Police didn't take any action in this connection. Today, he along with his close aides murdered my brother-in-law," said Sushant's sister-in-law Radha Naik.
Getting information, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
