Neighbours play key roles and take responsibilities for socialisation, provide a platform to relax, lead peaceful and harmonious lives and spread joy around.
Realising the need and importance of neighbourhood, social activist Radhakanta Tripathy along with likeminded people celebrated the World Neighbourhood Day at Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Since 2016, this day has been celebrated on October 15 which has been appreciated by India Book of Records.
Tripathy opined that neighbourhood should not be confined to villages only; rather, it should be extended to the panchayats, blocks, districts, States and finally the countries so that it would be helpful in developing the sense of safety, security and free from all types of threats. Besides, each one should take the responsibility to make the neighbourhood clean and green for the creation of a hygienic and serene environment.
On this occasion, the participants took a pledge that wherever they live, they would strive for good neighbourhood and develop the sense of ‘Vasudhaiba Kutumbakam’ in its true sense.
Among others Prabash Barik, Ashok Sahu, Sk Mujibur, Sitakanta Tripathy and Krutibash Mahalik assisted in organising the programme.
