Tuesday, 14 March 2023 | PNS | BALANGIR

A man sustained critical injuries after he was allegedly attacked by his wife following an altercation over a mobile phone at Kesarkela village in the Puintala area in Balangir district on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Ganeswar Suna, was admitted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

According to sources, Suna had married Iswari Kumari of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh six years ago. Iswari asked her husband for his mobile, but he refused saying his mobile phone’s data pack was exhausted. Later, livid with rage, Iswari attacked Suna with a sharp weapon when he was asleep and fled from the house along with her four-year-old daughter.

Villagers rescued Suna, who sustained deep injuries on his head and hand, in a critical condition and shifted him to the hospital.

Suna said his wife used to bicker with him frequently over the mobile phone.
