A Dalit a woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by two youths in Hathras on Monday, police said on Wednesday.
Police have arrested both the accused following a complaint by the victim. A police official said that the incident was believed to have taken place on Monday afternoon.
In her complaint, the woman said that she was walking with an acquaintance when the accused abducted her near a government hospital in Sikandra Rao Kotwali area of Hathras district.
According to Circle Officer Anand Kumar, both the accused came out of bushes near the government hospital and started beating her and the acquaintance with sticks. After that, both the accused dragged the woman into the bushes and gang-raped her. The accused also threatened to kill her if she informed the police and fled the scene.
The circle officer said that following the complaint of the victim, the police had registered a case of gang-rape and arrested both the accused.
The victim woman was sent for medical examination.
A police official said that the woman was living at her maternal home in a locality of Sikandra Rao town for the last two months. She was going home with an acquaintance when the accused intercepted her and committed the heinous crime.
