In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman, along with two children, jumped in front of a goods train in Mirzapur district on Sunday evening. The trio died on the spot. Police reached the scene and were busy ascertaining the identity of the deceased.

The incident took place in front of Jasa Baghaura Patti village of Vindhyachal police station area between Jigna and Gaipura. The driver later stopped the train and informed the Gapura railway station authorities. Vindhyachal police reached the site and sent the bodies for autopsy.

Reports said that a goods train was moving from Prayagraj towards Mirzapur around 6:30 pm on Sunday evening.  In front of Baghora Patti village, a 32-year-old woman jumped in front of the train with a four-year-old girl and two-year-old boy in her arms. Vindhyachal police station incharge Atul Kumar Rai said efforts were on to identify the deceased.

“It seems that the woman had some domestic dispute following which he took her two children and took the extreme step. Further investigations are on,” he said.

Meanwhile, a farmer and his son were also electrocuted in Ghazipur district. Reports said that  Shivtahal Yadav (50), along with his son Anil Yadav (22) of Gram Sabha Chaubepur  under Mohammadabad Kotwali police station, was watering his field on Monday morning. In the meantime, a high-voltage high-tension wire snapped and fell on them. 

Shivtahal Yadav is survived by three daughters and wife. At the time of the accident, his wife Mirza Devi and daughters (Sheela, Pramila and Dharamshila) were at home.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the sub-divisional magistrate of Mohammadabad, circle officer and other senior officers reached the spot and assured the bereaved family adequate compensation.
