Extremist of CPI Maoist organization, Rajesh Oraon, on which the Government announced a reward of Rs 3 lakhs, was killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites. This encounter took place on Thursday on the way to Anjandham of Sadar police station area. The Jharkhand Police had declared a reward of Rs 2 lakh and the NIA had declared a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Rajesh.

Oraon was originally a resident of Hutar village of Ghaghra police station. For the last several years, the police have been looking for Rajesh Oraon. Rajesh was an active member of Ranthu Oraon and Lazim Ansari's squad. Several cases have been registered against him in the police stations of Gumla and Latehar districts. This has been confirmed by the DIG of Ranchi range, Anoop Birthare.

NIA was also looking for Oraon. The NIA had also registered a case against him in connection with the murder of four policemen in Latehar's Chandwa. On July 17, 2022, on the instructions of the NIA, the Ghaghra police pasted an advertisement at Oraon's house. The NIA probing the murder of four policemen in Jharkhand has arrested Patiram Manjhi with a reward of Rs 1 crore, Rs 10 lakh, Ajit Oraon alias Charlies, Saurabh da five lakh, Naveen, Ravindra Ganjhu, Chhotu Kherwar, Aman Ganjhu, Neeraj Singh Kherwar and Four lakhs on Mrityunjay Bhuiyan, Manish Yadav, Santu Bhuiyan, Nagendra Yadav, Sheetal Mochi, three lakh each on National Ganjhu, Kundan Kherwar, Khatesh Ganjhu, Ranthu Oraon, Anil Turi, two lakhs each on Pradeep Singh Kherwar, Rajesh Oraon, A reward of one lakh rupees each has been announced on Lajim Ansari, Jitendra Nageshia. NIA has announced the amount of the reward while declaring everyone as absconding.
