Additional Chief Secretary Veera Rana was on Wednesday given additional charge of Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier, in the day, she had called on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan here on Wednesday.
After this, it was believed that orders for giving charge of Chief Secretary to Rana might be issued soon. Later, the orders were issued late in the evening.
It was mentioned in the orders that after the retirement of current Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains on Thursday, Rana would shoulder the responsibility of additional charge of Chief Secretary along with her present postings.
On this day, Chief Minister has convened a Cabinet meeting.
Veera Rana is a 1988 batch IAS officer. Veera Rana is originally from UP. Now, Rana is the second woman of Madhya Pradesh to become the Chief Secretary. Before this, Nirmala Buch was the first woman Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh during BJP government. Her tenure was from September 22, 1991 to January 01, 1993.
Veera Rana was at present Chairperson of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh State and other positions.Rana will retire in March 2024.
