ESL Steel Limited, a Vedanta Group Company has been felicitated with numerous awards from various national / international governmental and NGOs for the commitment to community development endeavours.  Ashish Gupta, CEO, ESL Steel Limited said after the amicable resolution of all issues raised by the agitators, “In view of the recent blockade, we would like to appreciate the highly motivated workforce of ESL Steel Limited which continued to work so that all essential services were smooth and accident-free. Also, as a result of this blockade production had been hampered and cut by 70%, and we suffered losses to the tune of 100 Crores.”

Notably Gupta was commenting on the armed agitation and blockade of all the gates of ESL Steel Limited hampering the flow of resources and workforce but was happy since dire situations were averted where due to the blockade major accidents could have occurred endangering the lives and health of many.  Also, what aggrieves the management is that when protestors were requested to allow change of staff keeping in view plant safety and humanitarian grounds, they did not relent.

Further ESL Steel Limited in its official statement conveyed that it is open to constructive dialogue to find solutions to any issue. As an organisation ESL always goes above and beyond what is asked from if it is for the betterment of the society and community. Hence for the same the aggrieved parties were invited to the talking table for constructive discussions. As the company has always given employment opportunities to the local population depending on their skills and availability of vacancies.  Keeping these concerns in view, and the best interests of the company and the local population, ESL Steel Limited resolved these issues amicably with the aggrieved parties.
