In its commitment towards environment and sustainability, the Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group, inaugurated an avenue plantation programme at Andirakanch.

Under the green initiative, 3,300 fruit bearing, ornamental and forest species saplings are targeted to be planted in 5km area at both sides of the main road from Lundrukona Chowk to Jogiparitunda Chowk. The green corridor will not only enhance the visual appeal of the roadside but also would control soil erosion and provide shade to the stray animals and travellers alike.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of officials from Andirakanch Police Station, community members of Diploma Engineer Training (DETs) and Utkal Alumina's employees.

Sub-Inspector Police Andirakanch PS Binod Kumar Biswal and DGM Geology, Utkal Alumina Krishna Jyotishi inaugurated the drive along with Department Head CSR Mines Manoj Das and Manager HR Mines Debasis Pattnaik.

“Our commitment to avenue plantation is to ensure the wellbeing of our communities, beauty of our surroundings and making a healthy planet. We would continue such endeavours towards environmental sustainability and community empowerment," said Unit Head and president Utkal Alumina Mazhar Beig.
