The Union minister for Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) and laid the foundation stone for 141 PM Shri schools and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose residential school here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said that VSK, a technology based modern data driven model will be an effective step towards improving the learning outcomes of 23.50 lakh school students of Uttarakhand. He said that the scheme was conceptualised and implemented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the CM of Gujarat.
He said that after the introduction of National Educational Policy (NEP) - 2020, it has been extended to the entire country. Pradhan said that with the inauguration of the VSK in Uttarakhand, the State will be the first State to adopt the Gujarat education model. He said that NEP- 2020 is a philosophical document for building a knowledge-based economy of the 21st century. He also mentioned that the 141 PM Shri schools in the State will work as a model for the existing schools to achieve excellence. The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential School will cater to underprivileged children. The Union minister congratulated the CM and the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat for introducing the research scholarship in line with the national research foundation in which teachers of the states will be receiving grants for their research projects.
Pradhan said that PM Modi has projected NEP 2020 as a global model and how it has been appreciated by member countries and international organisations.
Dhami said that the VSK will collect real time data of the schools, students and teachers and will provide guidance for qualitative improvement in education. He said that with the setting up of VSK, the real time online attendance of the teachers has also started in the state.
The CM said that Uttarakhand has remained at the forefront in implementing different schemes of the union government and the state was first in the country to implement 2020. He said that a sum of Rs 72 crore has been allocated by the centre for the PM Shri schools in the State.
The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the state government has started scholarship schemes in all levels of higher education and research.
