Uncertainty grips admission in class 11 in the constituent colleges from the session 2023 -24. Constituent colleges in Jharkhand will not be holding admission, teaching and examination of the Jharkhand Academic Council of the class 11 and 12 from the session 2023 -24.
This delinking of the intermediate teaching from the constituent colleges is in the light of the New Education Policy which wants total break up with intermediate admission, teaching etc of class 11 and 12 from the constituent colleges.
A decision to this effect was taken at the 23.11.2022 meeting of the RUSA chaired by the secretary higher education and participated by secretary school education, chairman of the Jharkhand Academic Council, a couple of directors and a couple of the principals of the Ranchi based colleges.
It's now weeks when the Jharkhand Academic Council has released the result of the Matriculation examination. CBSE and ICSE too have released their Matriculation results.
It's time now for admission into class 11 and for places like Palamu the middle class families prefer constituent colleges for their wards class 11 and 12 teaching etc.
And this embargo on admission in the constituent colleges for the session 2023 -24 has in class 11 etc has tripled the worries of the admission seekers and their guardians.
There are some grey areas. First the RUSA wants proper mapping of all government and non governmental plus 2 schools in the vicinity of the constituent colleges catering till now plus 2 teaching etc.
The mapping is of space, human resources, teachers etc in governmental and non governmental plus 2 schools so that once admission in class 11 is shut in the constituent colleges, these government and non governmental plus 2 schools are fit to take admission there.
Professor in charge of the Yodh Singh Namdhari Mahila college Daltonganj Dr Mohini Gupta has expressed deep concern over the diktat of the RUSA saying this will affect hundreds of girl students to turn to co educational plus 2 for the pursuance to their class 11 teaching etc.
Dr Mohini Gupta said "Girls feel academically happier to be in the Mahila college at least for their very foundation course class 11 teaching etc. Their parents will too have a lot of reservation for their girls going to co educational plus 2 schools."
She said girls and their parents visit us asking for the admission in class 11.
Another principal Dr Rana Pratap Singh of the JS college Daltonganj said if class 11 teaching goes off in our constituent college, our college will look all the more dry and without any charm.
The RUSA meeting has however said where mapping is difficult to be done then in that case this delinking of class 11 teaching from the constituent colleges will be a phase out drive in which the number of the admission will be reduced gradually for 3 consecutive years.
