Two nabbed for cheating in name of teartment in Haridwar

Cyber crime branch of police has arrested two accused from West Bengal who have cheated in the name of treatment in Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar by creating a website similar to Patanjali Yog Peeth Trust and using their contact numbers; 1 bank pass book, 2 mobile phones and 4 SIM cards were seized from the accused.

Two accused Akash Karmakar and Ankit Sao have been arrested from West Bengal by the team of Cyber Crime Branch District Bhopal.

The action was taken after a complaint was made on May 16 by Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Piplani, at the Cybercrime Branch. The victim was cheated to the tune of Rs 227422.

Both the accused are residents of West Bengal.

Sanjay Kumar had given a written complaint application that he had to go to Patanjali Yog Peeth Haridwar for his mother's Ayurvedic treatment, so after searching online and registered on the website and contacted the numbers available. The person at the other end informed him that some money will have to be paid in advance for the treatment and tests. After that Sanjay deposited a total of Rs 2,27,422 in his 3 bank accounts. After that the accused demanded more money from the complainant, then a written complaint application form was given by Sanjay in Cybercrime Branch.

The team of Cyber Crime District Bhopal came to know from technical analysis that the accused were calling from Kolkata West Bengal, and money was being withdrawn from ATMs from Patna Bihar and Kolkata West Bengal. The police team searched for the accused in Patna, Bihar, but the location was being changed repeatedly by the accused.

On the basis of technical information, the police team searched for the accused for three consecutive days at different places in North Parganas and Kolkata, West Bengal and were arrested.
