Two-day conference on human-animal conflict organized

The Centre for Research in Environmental Law, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur has organised a Two-day(s) Interdisciplinary International Conference on HumanAnimal Conflict and Compensation on Sept 9 and 10, 2023 in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Law, Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.

The collaborative two-day Interdisciplinary International Conference on "Human-Animal Conflict and Compensation," aimed to provide an inclusive platform for esteemed scholars researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from diverse fields. The premise of this conference was to comprehensively explore the intricate dynamics of human-animal conflicts and the crucially important role of compensation mechanisms in mitigating their impact on both human well-being and animal welfare.

The conference included expert sessions on different themes delivered by renowned experts in the field.

The inaugural ceremony was held on 9th September, 2023 in virtual presence of the Chief Guest Hon’ble Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz, Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Guest of Honor Prof. Sairam Bhat, Professor of Law & Centre Coordinator, CEERA, National Law School India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru and other distinguished guests.

The valedictory ceremony of the conference was held on 10th September,2023 in the august presence of Chief Guest, S. Surya Prakash, Vice–Chancellor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal, and in virtual presence of Guest Of Honor Sr. Adv. Prabhakaran Ramachandran, Supreme Court of India.

The concept note was delivered by Srishti Yadav, Coordinator CREL, and vote of thanks was delivered by Isha Paliwal. Ruchira Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor was the Master of Ceremony. S.N. Khare, Retired District Juge and Adjunct Faculty Member, and Utkarsh Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor marked their presence during the Valedictory Ceremony. The conference was organised by student Convenor Hemant Rajawat alongwith all other student members of CREL under the guidance of Faculty In-charge and Coordinator(s),  Areena P. Ansari and Srishti Yadav, Isha Paliwal, Co-Coordinator & Teaching Associate, Bhagyashree Agrawal, Co-Coordinator & Teaching Associate.
