A delegation from Italy headed by Carlotta Bonvicini, Deputy Mayor of Italy's Reggio Emilia on Tuesday visited Ranchi Smart City and assed the infrastructure work going on in the area. The delegation apart from Bonvicini includes two other members under the Euro U Pian Uni U Yun International Urban Urban and Regional Cooperation Program.

The Deputy Mayor of Italy's Reggio Emilia city and his colleagues understood and got to know closely the specialties and important aspects of Ranchi Smart City under construction in Ranchi. He inquired about the state-of-the-art facilities being developed on 656 acres of land, what are some of the best facilities in Lasalai city and what will be the benefits of these to the urban citizens. Rakesh Kumar Nandkeolyar, General Manager, Ranchi Smart City Corporation, informed the delegates about various aspects of Smart City through power point presentation.

During this, discussion was also held on the command control and community welfare center set up by Ranchi Smart City and the traffic system of Ranchi which is self-operated. The delegation members also saw several live demo days and learned how this system can simultaneously address the entire city while sitting in the command center. They were told that the center has an important role in crime control and investigation of criminal incidents. Public bicycle wheel ringing system was also discussed. It was told by Ranchi Smart City Corporation that in order to promote non-motorized transport, a public bicycle wheel ringing system is working in Ranchi city, the benefits of which are being taken by people of all classes.

For educational purposes, many people are using cycles for commuting and many youths are also using cycles for their livelihood. In this sequence, the members of the delegation enjoyed the cycle service going on in Ranchi.

The members also got information about the UTI Lite Service SEZ being developed in Ranchi Smart City and visited the entire RayBD area. The GM and other officials of Ranchi Smart City informed about the development of the city, the state-of-the-art facilities being provided in it, their three-day visit and the measures taken for the environment.

The technical director of Reggio Emilia also gave a presentation based on their city and told what facilities are being provided for sustainable mobility in his city. The delegation members took a bicycle tour of the ABD area of Ranchi Smart City and praised the work being done in the Smart City. Carlotta Bonvicini, Deputy Mayor of Reggio Emilia City, Panagiotis Kara as Convener on behalf of IURUC, Paolo Gandoli, Director of Technology, Reggio Emilia Municipality, Rakesh Kumar Nandkyolyar, GM of Ranchi Smart City and others were present.
