TCIL to invest Rs 1,787 Cr in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility

In a significant move towards industrial growth, the Tinplate Company of India Limited (TCIL), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jharkhand. The collaboration marks a commitment to economic development and job creation in the state.

Investment and Facility Details: TCIL is set to invest Rs 1,787 crore in establishing a cutting-edge manufacturing facility with a capacity of 300,000 Tons per Annum (TPA) in Jamshedpur. The project, scheduled for commissioning in 2026, is expected to generate over 600 direct and indirect employment opportunities. This initiative aligns with the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy 2021, emphasizing job creation and economic advancement.

MoU Signing Ceremony: The MoU was formally executed at an event in Ranchi, where R N Murthy, Managing Director of TCIL, and Shri Jitendra Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary-Industries, Government of Jharkhand, exchanged commitments. The ceremony marked a pivotal moment in fostering a partnership that aims to contribute significantly to the state's industrial growth.

TCIL's Commitment: Expressing pride in the expansion, R N Murthy, Managing Director of TCIL, highlighted the company's dedication to the economic and social development of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand. Murthy stated, "We are committed to partnering with the Jharkhand Government and local communities to promote economic and social development, including job creation, increased revenue, and skill development opportunities for the local workforce. We are thankful to the Jharkhand Government for providing full support to us.”

Product Offerings and Market Presence: TCIL, known for its Tinplate and Tin Free Steel, serves various industries with versatile packaging substrates. The key products cater to segments such as Edible Oils, Paints & Pesticides, Processed Foods, Battery & Aerosols, and bottle crowns manufacturers. With over 45% share in India's domestic tinplate market, TCIL also contributes approximately 25% of its sales to global markets in South-East Asia, the Middle East, and select regions of Europe.

Legacy and Sustainability: Established in 1920, TCIL continues to evolve, aligning its growth strategy with Tata Steel's vision for sustainable development and environmental stewardship. The collaboration with the Government of Jharkhand signifies a collective effort towards building a robust industrial landscape and fostering economic prosperity in the region.
