The 10th convocation of Guru Ghasidas University (CGU), a Central university in Chhattisgarh, will be held on Friday.
The chief guest will be President Droupadi Murmu. Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, will preside over and present the annual report.
A total of 72 students who secured first position in the Merit List will be awarded 84 medals including the Gold Medal, 10 Donor Medal, 1 Guru Ghasidas Medal and 1 Chancellor Medal. Twenty-fight research scholars will be awarded Ph.D. degrees.
Ayush Tamarkar (BA LLB) will get the Chancellor's Medal for 2021-22. The Medal is awarded to a student for all-round excellence on the basis of his contribution to academics, sports activities, social work and leadership skills.
Pankaj Arya will be honored with Guru Ghasidas Medal for 2021-22. This is given to the student securing the highest marks in all the streams in the entire university. A total of 28 students from 8 schools of the university will be awarded PhD degree. This includes seven students of School of Arts, two of School of Social Sciences, four of School of Physical Sciences, three of School of Life Sciences, one of School of Management and Commerce, seven of School of Natural Resources, three of School of Education and one of School of Engineering and Technology.
Chhattisgarh Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the guests of honour.
Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh and Dr. Atul Kothari, National Secretary Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi, will also attend.
