Kicking off the BJP’s poll campaign in Haryana for the next year’s Lok Sabha and the State Vidhan Sabha elections, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday slammed the previous Congress Government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda as of three ‘Ds’.
Shah, addressing a public meeting in Sirsa as a part of ‘Jansampark Abhiyan’ to showcase the work done by Narendra Modi Government since last nine years, said that the first ‘D’ stood for ‘darbaris’ (courtiers), the second D for ‘damad’ (son-in-law), and the third D stands for ‘dealers’.
“The second D is the government of the ‘son-in-law of Delhi’…BJP Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar-ji has finished all three Ds,” he said.
Comparing the 10-year stint of the previous Congress Government with the present nine-year stint of the BJP-led Government in the Centre, Shah said: “Corruption of Rs 12 lakh crore took place during the Congress rule, but the Opposition cannot accuse the Modi government of a single corruption case.”
“These nine years of the Modi Government are nine years of India's pride, nine years of poor welfare, nine years of India's progress. Post-COVID, the whole world is in the grip of recession. But due to the policies of Modi ji, the recession has not been able to knock in India. This is a big achievement,” said Shah.
“The State needs Modi-Manohar double engine government for the overall development of the state,” he said, while asking the people to give one more chance to the Modi government.
Taking a dig at Hooda, Shah said: “Hooda, your government lasted for many years (from 2004 to 2014), you never sent Rs 6,000 directly to the farmers. Manohar Lal Khattar brought Bhavantar Yojana, you did not bring Bhavantar Yojana. You have not done any work for the farmers.”
Shah, who sought votes by folding his hands before the people, claimed that Hooda focused only on the development of Rohtak but “Manohar Lal Khattar ensured the development of the entire state”. He also paid obeisance at Gurdwara Chilla Sahib in Sirsa along with Chief Minister Khattar.
Whenever Union Home Minister visits Haryana, state’s pride always increased: Khattar
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, addressing the gathering, said that whenever Shah visits Haryana, the pride of the State has always increased. “It will not be incorrect to call Amit Shah an Iron Man as he has taken several bold decisions in the interest of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Khattar.
The Chief Minister said that during Khelo India held in the state, Shah had lauded the sportsperson of the state by calling them dhakkad. Similarly, he had also described the jawan (soldier) and Kisan (farmer) as dhakkad.
“India’s image has globally transformed under the leadership of Prime Minister. Several welfare schemes have been launched by the Centre Government for the upliftment of the poor, needy and people belonging to the deprived sections of society,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that in the last about nine years, the Haryana Government has meticulously implemented all the schemes of the Central Government. “Rampant corruption is prevailing in the state during the tenure of previous governments. After taking over the reign of the administration in the state in the year 2014, the present State Government not only rooted out corruption at all levels but also provided fair and transparent governance to the people of the state,” said Khattar.
The Chief Minister said while following the Prime Minister’s pledge 'Na khaunga, na khane dunga', the present state government has left no stone unturned to end corruption in the state.
“For the upliftment of the poor, welfare schemes have been implemented with the spirit of Antyodaya so as to ensure that the benefit reaches the beneficiaries standing last in the queue. By implementing PPP, the state government has given the benefits of government schemes to every poor at their doorstep,” said Khattar.
The Chief Minister assured Amit Shah that this time also lotus will bloom on all 10 seats in Haryana in the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024 adding that a strong government will be formed at the Centre for the consecutive third time, said Khattar.
Ahead of the rally, the government in the state had beefed up security in the town to prevent any protests or disruption in the rally.
At least two dozen IPS officers and more than 3,000 police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order as farmer leaders and their supporters had threatened to stage a protest. However, some of the farmers hoisted black flags atop their residences.
The Haryana Assembly election is all set to be held after next year's Lok Sabha elections. The BJP had won all the 10 Lok Sabha seats from the state in 2019.
