Secretary, Drinking Water Department and IG convene review meeting, social media under scanner

Secretary Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Manish Ranjan and Inspector General of Police (Human Rights) Akhilesh Kumar Jha held a review meeting of law and order maintenance and other preparations in view of Durga Puja. Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, Deputy Development Commissioner, Railway SP, City SP, Rural SP, Sub-Divisional Officer Dhalbhum, ASP City, Additional Deputy Commissioner, ADM Law and Order, Sub-Divisional Officer Ghatshila and all. Departmental officers, deputed super zonal, zonal magistrate and police officers were present in the meeting.

 

Addressing the district officials, Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department said that all the departmental officials will discharge their responsibilities promptly, work with mutual coordination, and rise above personal responsibilities given by the district administration. Keep it a priority. It is often seen that small problems take a big form, remain vigilant 24x7. He reviewed the civic amenities and talked about working in coordination with the puja committees for the convenience of the devotees. Said to ensure deputation of representatives of fire brigade, electricity department, drinking water and other related departments related to law and order in the district control room.

 

Inspector General of Police (Human Rights) instructed to check the fire extinguishers installed in all the puja pandals, whether CCTV is working or not and the officers and police forces deputed for security arrangements should always be alert. He clearly said that he will not immerse without an escort. The list of volunteers will be verified from the control room. Will keep special vigil on social media. Emphasizing on taking special precautions in sensitive pandals, he said that the festival should be conducted successfully while maintaining social harmony and harmony.

 

Deputy Commissioner, while giving information about the administrative preparations to the senior in-charges of the district, said that apart from the district level control room, war rooms have been formed in all the municipal bodies. Additionally, additional control has been created in Ghatshila sub-division. The district administration has issued an appeal to all puja committees regarding the type of pandal, height, safety standards and maintenance of law and order. Necessary preparations have been made by holding meetings with all the Durga Committees, Pesh-e-Imam, Peace Committee meetings, police station wise and district level meetings with the Central Peace Committee, besides meetings with administrative and police officials.

 

Surprise inspection of pandals is being done regularly by senior officials of the district, every activity is being monitored through drone cameras and CCTV. Apart from the deputation of volunteers in all the pandals, a joint order has been issued for the deputation of administrative and police officials and police force. Works like street lighting, electrical wire repair, barricading and cleaning, 22 ambulances for medical emergencies, first aid kits in pandals, fire extinguishers, road repair etc. have been done. Apart from this, 20 beds have been kept ready in big hospitals of the city for emergency situations, anti-larva spraying and fogging has been done in pandals. For maintenance of law and order, 12 super zonal magistrates, 35 zonal magistrates, 164 static magistrates and 16 magistrates have been deputed for immersion. Special caution is being taken regarding security and maintenance of law and order by identifying sensitive pandals. Strict monitoring is being done to ensure that no misleading or unconfirmed news is propagated on social media.

 

Senior Superintendent of Police informed about the preparations of the police administration that action has been taken under section 107 against 1152 people regarding security arrangements. Physical verification of the routes of all idol immersions, processions and crowds has been done. Smooth traffic arrangements are being regularly reviewed and publicity has been given through media for parking of vehicles outside big pandals. From 20th to 23rd October, operation of all types of heavy vehicles (except buses) is completely prohibited from 4 am to 11 am every day, whereas on 24th October, operation of all types of heavy vehicles (except buses) is completely prohibited from 6 am till immersion. Movement of vehicles (including buses) and four wheelers will be completely prohibited. In view of the security arrangements, additional security forces have been deputed. Flag march has been conducted by police officials in the city, regular security arrangements are being reviewed in view of the crowd of devotees.

 

After the review meeting, the Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department and the Inspector General of Police (Human Rights) inspected the District Control Room and took stock of the preparations and gave necessary guidelines.
