Rotary Club organises Health Check-Up Camp in adopted village

Thursday, 30 November 2023 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In a commendable initiative, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West (RCJW) organized a Health Check-Up Camp at its adopted village, Chimti Phadiya Tola in the Bodam Panchayat area. Since the adoption of the village on September 29th, RCJW has been committed to bringing positive changes to the lives of the villagers.

Recognizing the importance of health as a priority factor, the club conducted a general health check-up camp where medicines were distributed free of cost. A total of 65 men, women, and young boys and girls participated, seeking medical attention for ailments such as fever, cough, cold, stomach issues, and body pain.

Under the guidance of physicians Dr. Ajay Kumar and Dr. Vanita Pandey from MTMH, the health problems were addressed, and medications were provided accordingly. Additionally, female attendees were given multi-vitamin, iron, and calcium tablets. The doctors also examined 44 small children, aged 1 to 12 years, revealing that many of them were undernourished due to a lack of proper food and hygiene awareness. Medications for common ailments and advice on maintaining proper hygiene and nutrition were provided to the children.

Adhering to the Rotary mission "EK CHAMMACH KUM… CHAAR KADAM AAGE," the club organized random blood sugar tests and blood pressure check-ups. Lack of awareness in the villages about lifestyle diseases and alcoholism being a predominant issue prompted these health checks. Out of the 52 patients tested, several were advised for high sugar and pressure, and medications were provided along with guidance on exercise and lifestyle changes.

A comprehensive eye check-up and cataract detection were conducted for 48 villagers. Two individuals were diagnosed with cataracts, and the team from Purnima Netralaya, along with RCJW, took the responsibility to conduct free cataract surgery for the identified patients.

The success of today's Health Check-Up Camp can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the teams from MTMH and Purnima Netralaya, led by Dr. Sujata Mitra, Dr. Vanita Pandey, Senior Technician Lakshman, and Bipin Kumar. The event saw the active participation of RCJW members, including President  Neeta Agarwal, Chair Project Positive Health  Rishi Chandrani,  JB Singh,  Sanjeev Sehgal,  Annupama Sehgal,  Varsha Gandhi,  Ajay Gandhi,  Mithilesh Jha, and  Binod Agarwal.
