Rich tributes were paid today to reputed footwear company Sreeleathers's founder Suresh Chandra Dey's wife Kiranmoyee Dey on her birth centenary year. A memorial meet to pay tributes to Dey was held at the K-Road store in Bistupur today. On the occasion, Shekhar Dey, director, paid tribute to the legend. A cake cutting ceremony was also organised.

Kiranmoyee Dey played an instrumental role in setting up the shoe trade empire. She stood by her husband during his struggle days and motivated him to fulfill his dreams. 

 Suresh Chandra Dey, a visionary leader was born on April 21, 1911. Dey brewed up a unique way of serving his motherland. He felt the need for generation of capital growth and employment within his country as the best way to serve the nation.

 A patriot and a great revolutionary, Suresh Chandra Dey, was a trusted disciple of Surya Sen, a protagonist of the Chattagram armoury plunder.  He had seen many ups and downs in his life. From Bangladesh he moved to Calcutta and took up a job with Bata. Later he moved to Jamshedpur in connection with his job and settled there with his family. Here, he made a difference with his wisdom, sense of discipline, attention  to needs of customers and his understanding of the processes relating to manufacture of leather goods.

Set up in 1953 by Suresh Chandra Dey, a noted freedom fighter of his time, the Group entered the export market in 1993-94. The first Sreeleathers shop set up at Jamshedpur in 1953 still stands today.

 It was a time when India was striving to fight British rule in India. His aim was to fight back British autonomy and establish Indian independence.

 He spent his best years fighting for the cause of Indian independence. He braved bullets and blood as part of Surya Sen's legendary team that fought the British at Jalalabad as well as in the now historic Chittagong Armoury Raid.

 As footfall of customers has been gradually increasing, continuous efforts are made to enlarge the size of the showrooms. All this has been done to make the shopping experience more comfortable at Sreeleathers.
