The city is gripped with religious fervour with the celebrations of the Ram Navami and the Basanti Navratra on the way. Devotees are flocking to akharas and temples and organising kalash yatras to get a glimpse of gods and goddesses.
Devotees flocked to the Beldih Kalibari which is organising the Basanti Durgapuja every year. The Basanti Durga Puja was started by Late Shri Brahmananda Shastry under the banner of Bharatiya Yugavashistha Brahmananda Sangha. Since morning, men and women queued up to offer puja and get a glimpse of goddess Basanti today. Not only in Kalibari but a good crowd was also seen in Aamra Shobai Club in Sonari which has been organising the Basanti Durga Puja. The Children of Ramakrishna, a socio-spiritual organisation in Sidhgora too is organising the puja.
“We have been celebrating the occasion for several decades. Like every year this year too the devotees are participating in large numbers. The Kalibari was established in 1933 but the Basanti Durga Puja was started by Guruji in 1983, otherwise the Kalibari was known to organise the Sharadiya Utsav. Today, it has become a major venue even in the Basanti Navratra. People gather for worship and also to enjoy cultural performances in the evening, which is performed by cultural groups and from artists ," said one of the members of Bharatiya Yugavashistha Brahmananda Sangha.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said that there will be 24X7 monitoring on social media, considering any sensitive news deeply, and sending it to others. All precautionary measures are being taken by the police administration for the purpose of not creating any hindrance in your festive atmosphere. Before forwarding the message to the people, it must be brought to the notice of the senior officials of the administration. You can contact the office bearers without any hesitation at any time. Administration will ensure immersion in the procession by 8 pm.
Men and women waited in two different queues right to the temple gate and flowers. Security personnel along with volunteers of the temple were deployed all along the path to guide the devotees. Apart from this, several 'shobha yatras' are being taken out from different places of the city,
Elaborate security arrangements are being made by the police to maintain peace during the puja period. RAF jawans were seen patrolling the main thoroughfares and all the important places in the city. Police personnel were also deployed in civil dress to keep an eye on miscreants.
On the other hand the city and all the 157 akharas have prepared for their processions to be taken on Friday March 31. The Bajrang Akhada took out a kalash yatra with full fanfare including crackers, lighting for half a kilometre and with 10 music bands. The rally was taken out from Subernarekha ghat at 9 pm. The Thakur Pyara Singh and Dhurender Singh Club, the oldest akhara in the city started in 1921 would take out their procession on Navami in the evening with about 5000 people.
