The New Delhi railway station is soon going to start the capital’s first “rail coach restaurant”, in the national capital. An old coach would be converted into a state of art restaurant, expected to offer best in the fine dining.
According to Northern Railway, the coach has been placed in the VIP parking area at Ajmeri Gate. Besides New Delhi railway station, the railway has planned to open coach restaurants near Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, and Sarojini Nagar stations. Similar rail coach restaurants are operational at railway stations in Mumbai, Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur.
According to officials, the rail coach restaurant at Ajmeri Gate is expected to be operational by October.
Though located inside the station complex, the rail coach restaurant would be open not only to passengers, but other visitors too. While it would be open on all seven days of the week, it might be operational 24x7 too. The restaurant would accommodate up to 50 at a time.
Officials said there would also be separate food stalls on both sides of the coach for which separate sheds might be given.
