Pvt school teachers demand pension

Wednesday, 05 April 2023 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

PNS
: Thousands of teachers from all Panchayats of Odisha led by NIOS DELED Teachers Association national president Er Debashisha Hota held a demonstration on Tuesday at the Lower PMG.

They demanded declaration of a pension policy for the private school teachers, giving priority to DEl.Ed teachers during appointment in Government schools, regularising job of NC- cleared Government teachers from May 22, 2019 and teachers of Catholic Mission Minority Board Schools.

The teachers of private schools like Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Sri Aurobinda Purnanga Sikhya Kendra, Vivekananda Vidya Mandir and Gurukul are leading a miserable life after their retirement, because they are getting very small salaries from their schools. They work hard for 10 to 12 hours per day in these schools but their future is uncertain as they have neither any chance for regularization of job nor pension after retirement, Hota said and urged the CM to frame a Pension Policy for the category of teachers in the State.
