A team of forest guards under the command of the ranger Garu West of the tiger reserve Palamu Tarun Kumar Singh seized 15 slippers of precious trees like Sakhuwa and Saagwan.
Confirming this the deputy director north division of the tiger reserve Palamu Kumar Ashish said the seized timber is valued at 1 lakh of rupees in the market.
Ashish said our team seized four muzzle loaded guns, 2 axes and 6 old and new saws.
Four people have been arrested who have been remanded in judicial custody in Latehar.
The 4 sent to jail have been identified as Kisun Birjiya, Baleshwar Lohra, Ramesh Kumar Gupta and Gautam Kumar.
Ashish said Ramesh Kumar Gupta is said to be a para teacher in a government school.
The deputy director said Ramesh and Gautam used to give money to Birjiya and Lohra to fell the tree and saw it and later these two used to buy it for peanuts and fetch a high price for it in the market.
