Jehangirabad police have arrested a 37-year-old man who attacked his wife fatally in front of the Mahila police station with a sharp edged weapon with the intention of killing her after she refused to complain against the man.

The accused  Rakesh Chandel  followed his wife from Shivnagar to the spot of incident. They married in 2006 and have three children.

His wife Radha Bai Chandel  was living separately from the husband along with the children since March this year. There was a quarrel going on between husband and wife.

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital. On Sunday on the road leading to Jail Hill between the Police Control Room and Mahila police station a man hit a woman with a sharp edged weapon one after the other. The woman alerted for help and ACP Jahangirabad Ajay Mishra, who was coming out of the bus, stopped and immediately came forward to help the woman.

ACP and locals caught the man who was attacking the woman and snatched the sharp edged weapon from his hand. The staff of Jahangirabad police station also reached the police, immediately sent to the hospital and took the accused in custody and brought them to the police station and filed an FIR against the accused.

On inquiry, it was found that the woman was married to Rakesh Chandel in 2006, and had three children. For a long time there was a dispute between the husband and wife at the victim's house. The husband runs a vegetable cart and is addicted to drinking. On March 14  there was a dispute between the husband and the wife, the wife left the husband with all three children and started living separately, since then the husband tried to bring the wife back home.

On Sunday when the dispute escalated, the wife had come out asking to report, the husband also followed her, he had already come with the intention of killing the wife and had brought a sharp edged weapon when his wife did not agree. The husband attacked and injured his wife in front of the Mahila police station.
