Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch ‘Mission 2024’ from his parliamentary constituency, Kashi, following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s resounding victories in the recent state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
The prime minister choosing Varanasi to kick off his Lok Sabha election campaign in 2024 marks a significant moment. The PM is scheduled to engage in various programmes during his 43rd visit to the city on December 17 and 18.
During this visit, Modi is slated to present projects worth Rs 1,000 crore to the public. Among the projects, the inauguration of the Swaraveda Mahamandir, recognised as the country’s largest meditation centre, is much anticipated. Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects, including the Phulwaria four lane, Amul plant, and Sarnath beautification.
Having been elected as the Member of Parliament from Varanasi in 2014, Modi has cultivated a strong bond with this city, making a total of 43 visits over the past nine years of his tenure as the prime minister. The upcoming visit on December 17-18 is particularly significant following the BJP’s remarkable success in the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has communicated primary details of the visit to the district administration and BJP leaders. The visit will be centred around various development projects in Varanasi.
BJP Kashi area president Dilip Patel said the PM would arrive at Babatpur airport by a special plane on December 17 afternoon.
On the first day of his visit, the PM is scheduled to visit Chhota Cutting Memorial School grounds, where an exhibition based on ‘Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ for the urban area will be showcased. Later, he will interact with the beneficiary class. In the evening, PM Modi will attend the ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ at Namo Ghat, meeting south Indian guests and participating in the Ganga ‘aarti’. The PM will have an overnight stay at the BLW Guest House.
On December 18, PM Modi will travel to Umarhan by a helicopter from the guest house to attend the inauguration ceremony of Swarved Mahamandir. He is expected to engage with the public by inaugurating the event, which will include a ‘25,000 Kundi Swarveda Gyan Mahayagya’. The ceremony will witness the participation of three lakh devotees associated with the Vigyan Dev Maharaj Temple and attendees from various states and countries.
As part of his visit, PM Modi will present projects worth Rs 1,000 crore to Kashi, encompassing initiatives such as Namo Ghat, Phulwaria four lane, two railway overbridges, a rifle shooting range, a 50-bed residential building in Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital, a drug warehouse in Shivpur, a diet training centre, a teaching room lab in BLW, and five major and 15 minor roads.
The search for a suitable location for the prime minister’s public meeting in Bhorkala and Shahanshahpur was underway even as BJP officials and district administration representatives stated that the venue would be finalised by Friday itself.
The prime minister’s visit to Kashi is anticipated to be a momentous occasion, marked by significant developments and interactions with the local community.
