Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday claimed that the City Government has already planted over 36 lakh saplings and shrubs, completing 69 per cent of the annual plantation.
Rai said approximately 300 officers and employees of the department have been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining these plants.
Rai said that plantation is being done along major roads of the city and nearly 5.20 lakh flower pots have been placed to beautify the city roads.
Moreover, the Delhi Government is racing towards its goal of planting 52 lakh trees in this year.
“We aimed to plant 50 per cent of these saplings ahead of the G20 Summit.
“I am pleased to share that we have surpassed this target, planting more than 36 lakh (69 per cent) saplings and shrubs,” Rai said during a press conference.
