RS 2,725 CR FOR ODISHA FOR POWER SECTOR REFORMS
New Delhi: The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, has given a boost to reforms by the States in the power sector by providing financial incentives in the form of additional borrowing permissions. Odisha will benefit by Rs 2,725 crore of the fiscal incentive.
NON-GAZETTED FOREST SERVICE ASSN SUBMITS MEMO
Balangir: Members of the Odisha Non-Gazetted Forest Service Association Balangir unit, led by Ananda Bihari Swain, Biswamitra Pradhan, Sunil Mishra and others on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik seeking fulfilment of their five-point charter of demands. Their demands include formation of special striking forces in all 50 locations, creation of special welfare funds for field forest officers, reorganization of circle, integration of all wings, revision of range, section and beat and provision of ex-gratia to the deceased forest officers. They also submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change through the Divisional Forest Officer.
JOURNALIST JAGANMOHAN PASSES AWAY
Brahmapur: Senior journalist Jaganmohan Mohapatra died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College Hospital here on Thursday. He was 57 and is survived by his wife and a daughter. He was in charge of the Brahmapur edition of 'Sakala'. His body was taken to the Puri Swargadwar for last rites.

CONGRESS STAGES DEMONSTRATION AGAINST TPSODL
Brahmapur : The Ganjam District Congress, led by its president and Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Chandra Jena staged a demonstration against the TPSODL on Tuesday in front of its office. The party accused the TPSODL of charging high electricity bills and claiming interest on arrear bills. It demanded uninterrupted power supply, delivery of regular bills on stipulated date. The agitators reiterated that if the problems are not sorted, they would stage larger demonstrations in the district.
BAHUDA YATRA HELD IN SUNABEDA
Sunabeda: After His stay at the Semiliguda Mausi Maa Temple, Lord Jagannath and His siblings returned by their chariot to the Jagannath Temple in L-Zone of Sunabeda town on the Bahuda Yatra on Wednesday. In another chariot, the deities of the Central Puja Committee also returned from the Mausima Maa Temple in Sunabeda-I HAL town. Due to the Bahuda Yatra of the Lords and the huge rush of devotees, vehicular communication was stopped on the National Highway for more than two hours.
OPGC GETS ELECTRICAL SAFETY AWARD
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Power Generation Corporation has bagged the State-Level Electrical Safety Awards 2023 for best electrical safety practices in FY 2022-23. Representatives of OPGC received the award from Minister of Energy Pratap Keshari Deb at the opening day of observation of 4th National Electrical Safety Week here on June 26.
