A Letter of Understanding (LoU) was signed between the Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar and the World Food Programme (WFP), New Delhi, on Friday.
It was signed by Director of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, OUAT Prof Dayanidhi Mishra and Deputy Country Director, WFP Nozomi Hashimoto in the presence of OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof Pravat Kumar Roul for establishing a Technical Support Unit (TSU) for the Rice Fortification Programme to support the Government of Odisha.
Prof Roul opined that such an endeavour would underpin academic excellence in co-creating technological innovations and their applications in crop research and innovations. It would help strengthening the technical capabilities of the State Government departments implementing food-based safety nets on fortification.
He also said the Technical Support Unit (TSU) would develop and sustain a conducive ecosystem on food fortification by engaging with partners, private stakeholders, converging departments and community institutions through research, academics, adherence to quality and social behaviour change communication drives.
