Why the State Government is not opening the Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar even after five years of the Orissa High Court’s decision was questioned the BJP on Thursday.
BJP leader Pitambar Acharya said the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in an affidavit to the High Court said that there is danger to the Ratna Bhandar and it should be immediately repaired. If the Chief Minister and the State Government are at all concerned about protection of Lord Jagannath’s property, they should immediately open the Ratna Bhandar with the duplicate keys, which they claim they have in their possession.
The Government must also make the Justice Raghubir Das Commission report on the Ratna Bhandar public and also inform in the State Assembly as to what steps have been taken on the commission’s recommendation. A BJD leader of Puri district had alleged that some people have conspired to loot the Ratna Bhandar. This points finger directly at the State Government. Are all the gold ornaments and other valuables given by the kings safe in the Ratna Bhandar, questioned Acharya.
