In a bid to bolster security measures in view of New Year, the East Singhbhum district police in Jamshedpur have announced an escalation in night patrolling across the city. The decision, prompted in view of New Year, aims to enhance police visibility and create a deterrent for potential criminals.
A senior police official explained the rationale behind the increased patrolling, emphasizing that even though incidents of theft and burglary have decreased in the past week, the approaching New Year festivities warrant a proactive approach. The intensified patrolling, which will extend past midnight, will be closely monitored by deputy superintendents of police assigned to respective areas.
"The objective is to send a clear message to potential criminals that vigilant law enforcement is in place. Thieves and burglars often target the early hours, and by conducting intensive patrolling, we aim to disrupt their activities and ensure the safety of residents," the official stated.
With the festive season around the corner, the police anticipate a rise in lavish spending, making it imperative to pre-emptively tackle any surge in criminal activities. The officers-in-charge of police stations and deputy superintendents will coordinate efforts to ensure effective and strategic patrolling during this crucial period.
As part of the intensified measures, patrolling parties may intercept vehicles passing through the streets after midnight, conducting thorough checks to ascertain the occupants' identities. Frisking passengers will also be implemented to ensure they are unarmed. These proactive measures aim to not only prevent crimes but also disrupt any potential criminal plans during the night.
The initiative seeks to address concerns about routine and lethargic patrolling, creating a more dynamic and responsive approach to maintaining law and order in Jamshedpur. By staying one step ahead of potential criminals, the police are committed to ensuring a safer and secure environment for residents as they approach the New Year.
Ahead of the New Year festivities, the police anticipate a potential uptick in crimes like theft and burglary as people tend to spend more money. "By proactively engaging the police force before criminals become active, we aim to prevent crime from occurring," the officer explained.
As part of the measures, patrolling parties may conduct vehicle checks past midnight, including intercepting four-wheelers and three-wheelers to verify occupants for any suspicious behavior. Passengers may also undergo frisking to ensure they are unarmed.
While the Tiger Mobile remains active during daytime and until 10 pm, armed policemen will be strategically deployed after 10 pm. Acknowledging that routine and lethargic patrolling can be exploited by criminals, this initiative aims to create a more dynamic and proactive police presence to ensure the safety and security of the residents in Jamshedpur.
